Tomo
Tomo means friend in Japanese.
Friends look out for each other. We want to bring that simple honesty to our relationship with the farmers and the nature around them. It is about being in good company. Respecting the land, supporting the people, and enjoying the journey together.
How It All Started
The idea of Tomo came to life after a conversation with Minato-san, one of our first partner farms. As we drove through the winding, hilly roads of Wazuka, we passed by family tea factories that had completely shut down. The discussion turned to how many of these businesses were forced to close, simply for a lack of heirs.
Before all this, tea was just something Chrisanne enjoyed with friends or had for a quick caffeine fix at home. However, after tasting the Matcha and Gyokuro offered by Minato-san, her perception began to change. The vision for Tomo grew stronger on that drive. It raised a real question: how little do we actually know about the people and the livelihood behind what we consume? That was the problem Tomo wanted to solve.
Hop on this journey with us as we launch our first products. We want Tomo to be a window into the beauty of the people and the places behind every cup.
