Tomo's Care Guide

Designed for Longevity

Our care for the product extends beyond the studio and into your hands. We designed every detail, from the matcha itself to the tin vessel that houses it—to endure. But like any fine tool or ingredient, a little gentle maintenance goes a long way.

How to Care For Your Products

Matcha Preservation

Matcha is a raw, living ingredient. It is sensitive to its environment. Exposure to heat or sunlight will cause its electric green hue and complex flavor to fade. It requires a cool, stable sanctuary.

Storage

Treat your matcha like fresh produce. Upon arrival, place it immediately in the refrigerator. The cold temperature slows oxidation, preserving the tea’s bright character.

Condensation is the only risk in cold storage. If your refrigerator tends to run humid, we recommend placing the tin inside a sealed airtight bag. This provides an extra layer of protection, keeping the powder cool but dry.

Air and Light

To protect the aroma, ensure the lid is sealed tightly immediately after every use. Minimizing exposure to air ensures the final cup tastes as intended.

Best Enjoyed

Matcha is meant to be enjoyed, not saved.

  • Unopened: Retains its integrity in the refrigerator for up to one year.
  • Opened: Best consumed within one month. We invite you to enjoy it while it is at its peak.

If the pull-top seal is opened or appears damaged upon arrival, please refrain from drinking and contact our customer service.

Canister Care

We did not design this canister to be simply discarded; we designed it to become a permanent fixture on your shelf. With simple care, it will serve you for years to come.

To prevent rust, please avoid washing the tin with water. Should you need to clean it between uses, simply wipe the interior with a dry kitchen cloth or paper towel to remove any residual powder.

Once wiped clean, store the canister in a cool, dry place. We are currently developing our refill pouches, so we encourage you to keep the vessel ready for its next replenishment.

Our Labels

Our canisters feature unique Risograph labels printed on durable, water-resistant washi paper, designed to withstand the cool environment of your refrigerator. However, because Risograph uses soy-based inks that sit on the paper’s surface, the design can be sensitive to friction and moisture. To keep your label looking pristine, please handle the tin gently with dry hands; if condensation forms after taking it out of the fridge, simply allow it to air dry rather than wiping it to prevent the ink from smudging.

Giving our Packaging a Second Life

Box Mailers

Constructed from heavy-weight, unbleached paper, this mailer is designed to endure beyond a single journey. Its matte, tactile surface offers a quiet resilience against the elements, protecting the contents without the need for plastic.

The material’s strength allows it to travel again. Simply tape it securely to send your own goods on a new journey, extending its purpose beyond a single delivery.

The sturdy composition makes it an ideal organizer for the home office. Use it to collect receipts, hold sketches, or stow away loose photographs.

Being entirely plant-based, it rests lightly on the earth. When it can no longer serve, it may be composted or recycled, returning to the cycle without residue.

Honeycomb Wrapper

A paper-based alternative to bubble wrap, offering superior cushioning without the plastic waste. It opens with a soft crackle, then settles into a gentle, protective shell around what you choose to gift.

The texture and structural integrity make it a pleasant wrapping for a bottle of wine or fragile gifts.

Once its work as protective wrap is done, the unbleached paper can be given a softer role. Shredded, it becomes a comfortable bedding for small pets, extending its usefulness from parcel to nest.
